Michael Fernandez is a first generation Cuban-American.  Michael is in his third year at DePaul University, Chicago.  His major is Communications, with an emphasis in Public relations and a minor in Entrepreneurship.  Michael has volunteered to coach basketball and volleyball at Our Lady of Ransom School.  Michael has also volunteered to work in the soup kitchen at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Chicago and has consistently participated in the “Relay for Life” walks for cancer research. Michael was described as displaying the qualities of “dedication, commitment and honesty” and has “never demonstrated any type of behavior that would be considered as unethical, immoral, nor illegal…”  Michael works five to seven days a week in order to pay for his tuition.  He truly understands the importance of, and has a serious “commitment to education.”
